Directory One Quality Standards

One of the most annoying experiences that a web surfers can experience is going to duplicate, spam filled  web sites. After all, who has time to click on links that often times lead to information that is useless and unwanted? Unfortunately, because of automation, many dishonest web site owners use deceptive practices to get high Internet rankings for search terms that they know will get then a lot of traffic in an attempt to dupe us into buying whatever product they happen to be pushing on us.

DirectoryOne.ws sets out to do its part on cleaning up the Internet by introducing the Directory One Quality Standards. In order for a site to be evaluated and subsequently listed, it must abide by the Directory One Quality Standards which are as follows:

1) The web site owner or anyone authorized to submit a web site on an owners behalf must provide a valid contact name and a valid email address.

2) By submitting a site the site owner or its agent testify and guarantee that the content within their site is original, and that when using content from other authors, copyright law is followed.

3) The content on the web site must not be of an objectionable nature. Sites considered as objectionable (content not suitable for children, scam programs, racially derogatory, etc) will not be listed. If after meeting listing requirements, site owner introduces objectionable content into a listed site, the site will be removed without notice and will not be listed again until objectionable content is remove. If objectionable content rule is again violate, site will be banned from the directory.

4) Sites will be evaluated for spam like content on a regular basis. Spam content will not be accepted.

5) Affiliate links or affiliate sites will not be accepted. Original owners of an Affiliate Program may submit their site and upon meeting ownership requirement and other Directory One Quality Standards will be made available in the directory.

6) Sites containing links to affiliate programs without any substantial original, non spam content will not be accepted. Content from other authors and available for use by other site owners is not considered original content and will not qualify a site for listing.

7) Site Owner or agent will not point their site to another site by using frames, forwarding, parking or any other technology that causes a domain name to show content from another site as if it was content within the domain.

8) Site owner must show proof of owning the domain name submitted, or if acting on behalf of a site owner, the agent submitting the domain must have proof from the original domain name owner.

9) Before a site is listed on Directory One, a link back to Directory One must be placed in the home page of the submitting web site. The site can not contain “no follow” instructions, or otherwise can not prevent search engines from following Directory One’s link from the site.

10) Directory One reserves the right to list or delete any site at will.
